Privacy & Encryption
Therapy only works when you can be fully honest. This page explains, in plain language, how Nauvia is built to protect that honesty — technically and operationally. This is maintained by Nauvia Therapy for our clients and prospective clients.
Every Nauvia therapist gets a unique, private room. Video and audio travel over DTLS-SRTP with peer-to-peer keys; the media path is encrypted end-to-end between you and your therapist.
We do not record sessions. There is no video archive, no transcript, and no AI listening in. The only record of a session is the therapist's own private clinical note.
Rooms are keyed to a private token, not a shared meeting ID. Your therapist's link cannot be guessed and is rotated on request.
Session notes are visible only to the therapist who wrote them. Admins cannot read them. Clients can request their record at any time under applicable state and federal law.
All data — inquiries, appointments, notes, files — is stored encrypted at rest with row-level access controls. Backups are encrypted and access-audited.
Nauvia's technology stack and internal workflows are designed to align with HIPAA privacy and security standards. Business Associate Agreements are in place with our infrastructure providers.
